Im Schrein Jongmyo wird den verstorbenen Königen der Joseon-Zeit Ehre erwiesen. Das Ahnenritual Jongmyo Jaerye, das hier stattfand, wurde 1975 als immaterielles Kulturerbe und im Jahre 1995 zu einem UNESCO Weltkulturerbe ernannt.
