Die sterblichen Überreste von mehr als 54.000 patriotischen Märtyrern wurden in Grabstätten begraben, die in verschiedene Bereiche unterteilt sind: Gräber von Soldaten, Polizisten, verdienstvollen Bürgern und Schlüsselfiguren der provisorischen Regierung.
Jedes Jahr am 6. Juni, dem nationalen Gedenktag, werden am Nationalfriedhof Gedenkfeiern und Events abgehalten, um die tapferen Patrioten zu ehren.
