La Playa Haeundae es probablemente el balneario más famoso del país. Le debe su nombre de "Haeundae" al sabio maestro Choi Chi-Won (857-?) de la dinastía Silla (57 a.C.-935 d.C), que un día estaba de paso por la isla Dongbaekseom y quedó fascinado por estas playas y dejó grabadas las sílabas "Hae Un Dae" sobre un paredón de piedra de la isla. La Playa Haeundae tiene 1,5 km de longitud y 30 a 50 m de ancho, alcanzando una superficie de 58.400 ㎡. Su blanca arena es áspera y se adhiere fácilmente a la piel. La arena de esta playa está compuesta por granos provenientes del arroyo Chuncheoncheon y los restos de conchas desintegradas naturalmente por la acción del viento a lo largo de mucho tiempo. La playa Haeundae es también famosa por los numerosos y variados eventos culturales que organiza a lo largo de todo el año. La Aldea Cultural Gamcheon también recibe otros nombres, como Villa Lego o “el Santorini de Corea”. Está repleta de edificios de colores brillantes, pero lo interesante es que parecen haber sido apilados unos sobre otros. Este sitio suele ser visitado más por mujeres que por hombres. El pueblo crea un ambiente único, con letreros de madera en forma de pez señalando el camino con subidas y bajadas, entre los coloridos edificios. Hay algunos rincones famosos del barrio donde verá gente haciendo fila para tomar una buena imagen. Uno de ellos está en la cima de una colina que tiene una escultura muy popular: la de El Principito junto con el Zorro del Desierto. Ellos parecen admirar la vista de la aldea con sus edificios dispuestos como si fueran escalones, y el mar de fondo. El barrio es genial para pasar horas deambulando por dondequiera, pero también es recomendable realizar el Stamp Tour (con costo). Después de recoger sellos en un total de nueve puntos de toda la aldea, puede recibir una postal que se ofrece como un pequeño recuerdo.
