Nam June Paik Art Center opened in October 2008 after the proposal of building an art center began in 2001. The art center, known as the “House where Nam June Paik lives on,” was designed with the artist's works and research in mind. With exhibitions, education, and research, the center aims to continue researching the works of Nam Jun Paik as well as discuss art issues to add to future exhibitions. Yungneung and Geolleung Royal Tombs refer to a pair of royal tombs. The complex also contains the History Center. Yungneung houses the remains of King Jangjo (1735-1762; also known as Crown Prince Sado) and Queen Heongyeong (1735-1816; Lady Hyegyeong of the Pungsan Hong clan), while Geolleung houses the remains of King Jeongjo (1752-1800), King Jangjo’s son, and Queen Hyoui (1753-1821). King Jeongjo is said to have expressed his wish to be buried here to stay close to his father.
