Explanation

Nam June Paik Art Center opened in October 2008 after the proposal of building an art center began in 2001. The art center, known as the “House where Nam June Paik lives on,” was designed with the artist's works and research in mind. With exhibitions, education, and research, the center aims to continue researching the works of Nam Jun Paik as well as discuss art issues to add to future exhibitions. Various events, exhibitions and educational programs are hosted throughout the year.

Unbo’s House, built at the foot of a mountain, is the former residence where the late master of Korean painting, Unbo Kim Kichang, spent his later years. Passing through the elegant hanok gate and into the garden, visitors arrive at the beautifully preserved main house. The Unbo Art Museum displays artworks and personal artifacts of Unbo Kim Kichang and his wife, Park Rehyun. Recently, the site has also gained popularity as a filming location for dramas. It offers visitors a meaningful glimpse into the life and artistic world of Unbo Kim Kichang, who overcame hearing impairment to become a master of Eastern painting.

The Retro Cafe, an event hall, serves as a modern cultural experience space, equipped with a modern music cafe and a modern costume experience area. A media facade expressing Mokpo's modern cultural heritage is displayed along the exhibition hall walls. On the second floor, the exhibition highlights popular songs connected to Mokpo and introduces the city’s representative singer. Flashback Gyerim, located in Gyeongju, is an immersive media art exhibition that reimagines the region’s unique narrative, from the founding of the Silla Kingdom through the period of Unified Silla, using technology, space, and light. Situated within the Bomun Tourist Complex, the venue spans approximately 5,600 square meters, making it the largest of its kind in Korea, with a maximum ceiling height of 11 meters.The exhibition is designed to let visitors walk through and experience the mythological and folkloric world of Silla firsthand, offering a fully multisensory journey. Large-scale projections, high-resolution media, and immersive sound come together across 13 interconnected zones that form a single epic narrative.
