El Museo Nacional de Chungju fue establecido el 30 de octubre de 1987 con el objetivo de enfocar la cultura regional a través de la investigación, presentación de programas educativos y estudios sobre la historia de la provincia de Chungcheongbuk-do.

El museo, ubicado en las hermosas laderas del monte Uamsan, fue diseñado por el reconocido arquitecto coreano Kim Su-geun, y es considerado como la obra maestra de la arquitectura moderna de Corea. De sus colecciones (8.600 objetos) se ponen en exhibición 2.300 y consta de diversas salas y espacios temáticos como salas de exhibición, patio al aire libre de exhibiciones, museo infantil, etc.

En la sala 1 de exhibiciones están presentes distintos objetos y materiales pertenecientes al período comprendido entre la Era Paleolítica hasta la Edad del Hierro, y en la sala 2 se encuentran restos históricos de la Era de los Tres Reinos. La sala 3, que es la sala de la historia del arte, exhibe obras artísticas del budismo, objetos de orfebrería y cerámicas de alto valor cultural e histórico, y en la sala de exhibiciones especiales hay documentos y materiales relacionados con la imprenta y planchas xilográficas que se usaban antiguamente.

Fortaleza Sangdangsanseong de Cheongju (청주 상당산성)

Esta es una fortaleza de piedra que consta con una longitud de 4 km y se encuentra ubicada en las cercanías del centro de la ciudad de Cheongju, provincia de Chungcheongbuk-do. Fue destruida parcialmente durante la invasión japonesa en el 29º año del reinado del rey Seonjo. Recién en el año 1716, al 42º año del reinado de Sukjong, fue restaurada y ha recuperado su tamaño original. Fue designada Sitio Histórico en el año 1970, y en el interior se ha creado la aldea de casas tradicionales hanok. Para fomentar el turismo en el área, se realizan una variedad de actividades culturales, como la elaboración de licores tradicionales y la preparación de platos gastronómicos folclóricos.

This hanok (traditional Korean house) is located in Ochang Hanok Village within Ochang-eup’s Miraeji Theme Park. Ochang Hanok Village is a collection of about 20 modernized hanok buildings that boast excellent views of the mountain and the Ochang Reservoir nearby. Gayeongdang is owned by Kim Byeong-hee, a master in flower tea who has studied Korea’s traditional flower tea for nearly 30 years. Visitors interested in Kim’s work have an opportunity to discuss the art of flower tea over tea and sweets with the master through Gayeongdang’s tea ceremony program.
Gayeongdang is a faithful recreation of the C-shaped hanok complex, centered around a grass lawn. It is constructed entirely out of Korean pine trees, which fills the indoor spaces with a rich scent of pine. The main and annex buildings are all Korean rooms with ondol (under-the-floor heating system). The former allows guests access to the room, the living room, and the tea ceremony room, while the latter allows opportunities for grilling in the lawn. The space is also available for small events like seminars, small concerts, and marriage ceremonies.
