Korean Peninsula Terrain was formed by soil transported from upstream to the curvature of the confluence of two rivers. It is often referred to as Mini Korean Peninsula because it resembles the shape of the Korean Peninsula. It is said to have this appearance due to the erosion of the incised stream flowing around the terrain. It takes a 15-minute walk along the pine forest trail for about 800 meters from the parking lot to reach there. The well-maintained trail with many wildflowers and plants creates a welcoming atmosphere. Upon arriving at the observation point, visitors will be amazed by the beautiful curved river and the topography taking the same shape as the Korean Peninsula. Designated as the Gangwon Paleozoic National Geopar, this area has excellent geographical value because it shows the characteristics of the incised mender river as well.

The Hanbando Raft Village is a raft experience center in Seonam Village, Ongjeong-ri, famous for its topography in the shape of the Korean Peninsula. It takes about 30 minutes to go back and forth on a raft from the east coast of the Mini Korean Peninsula to the west coast. While riding the raft, the boatman tells the story of the topography of the Mini Korean Peninsula and the fish living here. It is available from spring to autumn. In addition, various raft experiences are under operation, such as the Seogang Underwater Surveyor, a remodeled rafting boat that allows you to clearly view the underwater scenery.

Ttoranggil (또랑길)

Situated near Baeron Holy Ground, a key site in the spread of Catholicism in Korea, Ttoranggil is a restaurant distinguished by its ochre-built hanok. Cheongpung Land was created in 2002 near Chungjuho Lake in Cheongpung-myeon, Jecheon-si, Chungcheongbuk-do. It features beautiful scenery and the maximum use of practical space to build Korea’s first multi-tower. Based on planning, constructing, and test runs, it is operated by Over Class Inc. which is cosigned by Jecheon-si. The multi-tower’s three main facilities are a 62-meter Bungee Jump, Korea’s first-ever Ejection Seat, and Big Swing. The bungee jump highlights safety by adding a safety line to the gear to prevent falling accidents caused by breaking of the bungee cord rubber.

Jecheon Baengnyeonsa Temple (백련사(제천))

Baengnyeonsa Temple is located at the foothills of Gamaksan Mountain in Jecheon, Chungcheongbuk-do. The temple is currently composed of the main hall Daeungjeon, Samseonggak Shrine, Muyeomdang Hall, Boeungmun Gate, and residential houses. Daeungjeon Hall enshrines a wooden statue of a sitting Buddha, is an artifact from the Joseon period (1392-1910).

The history of the temple dates back to 662 (the second year of King Munmu’s reign during the Silla Kingdom), when a small shrine called Baengnyeonam Hermitage was built by the great monk Uisang on the east side of Baengyeonji Site. The temple has been reconstructed and restored numerous times throughout the course of several wars. The temple once encompassed many branch temples and shrines such as Mireuksa, Sinheungsa, Cheonsuam, Eunjeokam, and Cheongnyeonam, but only their foundation sites remain today.
