Sono Moon Danyang is located in the central region of Korea where various famous landmarks like Eight Scenic Spots of Danyang, Chungjuho Lake, Sobaeksan Moutain, Gosudonggul Cave, and Guinsa Temple are situated. The resort is thought to be a base camp for resting, leisure and sports. The resort also features a 8-meter-high grand aquarium, housing 22,000 freshwater fish from 187 different species in Danuri Aquarium, is the largest freshwater fish ecological hall in Korea. Aqua World is a special facility of Danyang Resort available all year round for health and resting. Natural carbonated water from 750 meters underground is used for varied baths. Seonam Garden serves folk dishes at the foot of Doraksan Mountain, one of the 100 most famous mountains in Korea. Its signature menus are tojongdak baeksuk (whole chicken soup) and maeuntang (spicy fish stew). Visitors can also enjoy sanchae jeongsik (wild vegetable dish set menu), deodeok gui (grilled deodeok), healthy dotorimuk (acorn jelly salad), and handmade dongdongju (rice wine, similar to makgeolli), along with buchimgae (pancakes) and sondubu (handmade bean curd). These are accompanied by about ten elegant and delicious side dishes.

Songgyegyegok Valley (송계계곡)

Songgyegyegok Valley lies at the foot of Woraksan Mountain in Jecheon, Chungcheongbuk-do. Crystal-clear water flows between the rocks that are scattered throughout the valley. Doljip Sikdang is a restaurant near the Danyang Bus Terminal that serves dolsotbap (hot stone pot rice) and garlic dishes. Indeed, its gondeure maneul jeongsik (thistle and garlic set menu) has captured the tastebuds of its regulars for two generations. The restaurant’s set menus, such as heungmaneul jeongsik (black garlic set menu), doljip jeongsik (Doljip set menu), gondeure maneul jeongsik (thistle and garlic set menu), and gondeure jeongsik (thistle set menu), all feature garlic dishes. It also serves a la carte dishes like bulgogi, maneul yukhoe (garlic and beef tartare), Danyang maneul tteokgalbi (grilled garlic and galbi patties), suyuk (boiled pork slices), and deodeok gui (grilled deodeok). Notably, side dishes are made with garlic, Danyang’s specialty, which isn’t too spicy and taper off to gentle sweetness.

Woraksan National Park (월악산국립공원)

Woraksan National Park is located along the Baekdudaegan Mountain Range between Sobaeksan and Songnisan Mountains. The rugged mountain is softened by the waterfalls and small pools found within the valleys. The area was designated as a national park on December 31, 1984. The mountain is surrounded by Chungjuho Lake to the north, the Eight Scenic Views of Danyang and Sobaeksan Mountain to the east, and Mungyeongsaejae Pass and Songnisan Mountain to the south. The main peak of Woraksan National Park is Yeongbong Peak, reaching an altitude of 1,097 meters above sea level. The path there is steep, with sections of rock stretching 150 meters in x_height. There is also a 4-kilometer-long path circling the base rock.

Danuri Aquarium (단양 다누리아쿠아리움)

Located in Danyang, Danuri Aquarium houses a lot of freshwater fish with a wide array of fish species from Korea and overseas, consisting of 20,000 fish of 63 species and 1,600 fish of 87 species, respectively. Visitors can enjoy a wide selection of fish including Siniperca, a traditional fish from the Namhangang River, sweetfish and Korean bitterling, as well as various fish species from other countries all in one spot. Also, the aquarium offers a special sightseeing point, in the form of a fish tank decorated with the theme of Eight Scenic Views of Danyang.

Ageobong Peak (악어봉)

Ageobong Peak is situated within Woraksan National Park near Chungjuho Lake. It is so named because the mountain's foothills, as seen from the summit overlooking Chungjuho Lake, resemble a group of crocodiles entering the water—'ageo' translates to 'crocodile' in Korean. In 2023, a trail was opened for tourists, offering them the chance to enjoy the breathtaking landscape from an observatory at the peak.

Sainam Rock (단양 사인암)

Sainam Rock, located in Sainam-ri, Daegang-myeon, is one of eight scenic areas in Danyang, and is located in the southeast side of Danyang-gun, along with Sangseonam Rock, Jungseonam Rock, and Haseonam Rock of Seonam Valley.
The Sainam Rock is a rugged outcropping with an inspiring x_height of 70 meters, and the deep blue Namjocheon Stream passes in front of it, located in the southern part of Danyang-gun.

Most visitors to Danyang Eight Scenic Views tend to come to the rock as their first destination due to the good condition of the road. Also, Unseongugok Valley flows in front of Sainam Rock. The rock was picked as the most picturesque place among the Eight Scenic Views. On the cliff, there is a phrase carved by Utak’s own handwriting, as well as old pine trees on a rock floor that is reminiscent of the Haegeumgang River.

Sainam was named after the great scholar Yeokdong Utak during Goryeo Period. He had taken up a public service to assist a king in a position called sain (사인), and then he retired to his hometown of Danyang, starting out teaching young students. For this story, a governor of Danyang named the rock Sainam to commemorate his achievement during King Seongjong of the Joseon Dynasty.

Jecheon Deokjusa Temple (덕주사(제천))

Deokjusa Temple is a branch temple of Beopjusa Temple, the head temple of the 5th district of the Jogye Order. The temple is believed to have been established in 597 AD by Princess Deokju, the last princess of the Silla Kingdom. According to legend, Princess Deokju stayed at the site with Prince Ma-ui and built the temple, naming it after herself, along with the cave nearby. However, there are no records to confirm or refute these claims.

The temple once stood in front of the Rock-carved Standing Buddha of Deokjusa Temple (a Treasure), but was burned down during the Korean War. The present temple building stands about 1.7 kilometers from the original temple site and is the result of reconstruction efforts conducted in the 1970s.
