Bukhansan Mountain was officially designated as a national park in 1983. Bukhansan National Park covers both Bukhansan and Dobongsan Mountains, and spans a total area of 80.699 ㎢. At the top of Bukhansan Mountain are Baegundae Terrace (835.6 m), Insubong Peak (810.5 m) and Mangyeongdae Terrace (799.5 m), which gave the mountain the nickname "Samgaksan" or the "three-horned mountain." The mountain had other names: Sambongsan (mountain with three peaks), Hwasan (flower mountain), and Buaak (mountain shaped like a person giving a baby a piggyback ride). The current name, Bukhansan, was given after the Bukhansanseong Fortress was built under King Sukjong of the Joseon dynasty.

As a third-generation institution, it is now led by Director Lee Sang-hoon, who has been appointed as the Chairman of the Medical Committee of the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee (KSOC) and is recognized as a pioneer in sports medicine in Korea. He is also the first IOC-certified specialist in Korea and serves as a Vice Chairman of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA).

Gusan Martyrs' Shrine (구산성지)

Gusan Martyrs' Shrine, located in Gusan Village, named for its turtle-shaped mountain, is a Catholic holy site. It houses the graves of nine martyrs, including Kim Seongwoo Antonio. The history of the martyrs, their persecution, and their lives, imbued with a spirit of martyrdom, attract Catholic pilgrims to the site. The area's picturesque landscaping also makes it a favored location for TV drama, commercial, and film productions.

Sammaksa Temple (삼막사)

Sammaksa Temple is a Buddhist temple located in Samseongsan Mountain. Legend has it that the temple was established in 667 by Wonhyo, a Buddhist philosopher from the Silla era. Within the temple grounds are Cheonbuljeon Hall, Yukgwaneumjeon Hall, Myeongbujeon Hall, Manghaeru Pavilion, Chilbogak House, among others. The temple holds heritages like the Rock-carved Buddha Triad and the Fertility Stones. These artifacts, symbolizing the fusion of Buddhism and folk religion, highlights the ancient nature of the place.

Opened on October 14, 2005 by Seongnam Cultural Foundation, Seongnam Art Center is oriented towards cutting-edge performance and exhibition art, and serves as a local-friendly cultural site. The art center operates three performance halls (Opera House, Concert Hall, and Ensemble Theater) and three exhibition halls (Cube Art Gallery & Gallery 808, Bandal Gallery, Permanent Gallery). The center has hosted a variety of cultural events, from Korea's first introduced performances, Seongnam's original performances, self-produced works, region-friendly programs and other creative cultural contents. In addition, the art center operates diverse facilities such as Seongnam Media Center, Central Park Outdoor Performance Hall, Book Theme Park, International Musical Instrument Exhibition Hall and others for the community's enjoyment. Gyeongui Line Forest Park (Yeontral Park) (경의선숲길(연트럴파크))

Gyeongui Line Forest Park is a linear city park located in Mapo-gu and is also called Yeontral Park. It includes Daeheung-dong, Yeonnam-dong, Saechanggogae Pass, Changjeon-dong, Sinsu-dong, and Wonhyo-ro, which were opened in this order. Gyeongui Line Forest Park is established atop the Gyeongui railroad line and the Gyeongui Line and Airport Railroad Express are constructed as a double track underground. Gyeongui Line Forest Park was designed to be incomplete on purpose to invite the citizens in completing the park. The area which could have been left empty and neglected has turned into a meaningful green park for the citizens by the citizens.
