Mapo Art Center is an innovative cultural art space near college campuses including Hongik, Sinchon and Seogang area. Art Hall Mac, operated by Mapo Art Center is a fascinating performance hall used for a wide range of cultural events. The art hall boasts a stunning exterior as well as finely-appointed facilities that allow the audience to enjoy a diverse genre of performances. The art hall consists of two sections of Play Mac (for smaller performances like puppet shows, solo concerts and children’s performances) and Gallery Mac (where visitors engage in interactive programs). The center also has diverse leisure facilities such as a swimming pool, gym, fitness center, golf club as well as a training center.

Other amenities available include a powder room, multi-purpose hall, training room, playpen, and Sky Park.

Total Museum (토탈미술관)

The Total Museum is a branch of Jangheung Art Park (formerly “Total Outdoor Museum”) that opened near Bukhansan Mountain in April 1992. It houses facilities such as an art academy, library, art shop, and outdoor performance stage. In addition to exhibitions, the museum holds a variety of art and culture programs like musical concerts, events, lectures, and seminars. In particular, the members-only educational programs and gallery concerts provide a chance to enjoy high-quality cultural events.

Daelim Museum (대림미술관)

The Daelim Museum, built by the Daelim Group, was first established in Daejeon in 1996 and later moved to Jongno, Seoul in 2002. The art gallery studies, analyzes, and presents modern art through the lens of photography and holds exhibitions centered around photo media.

The museum is located in the residential area of Tongui-dong, near the time-honored Gyeongbokgung Palace. The museum, which was designed by French architect, Vincent Cornu, and built by the Daelim Corporation, opened its door to the public in late May 2002.

On the first floor, there is a garden, parking lot, reception desk, storage area, and conference room. On the second and third floor are offices and exhibition hall approximately 595 m² in size, consisting of small and large rooms, a long gallery, and a special high-ceilinged exhibition space. On the fourth floor, there is a seminar room that can seat up to 120 guests and a balcony with a beautiful view. From the balcony of the seminar room, Visitors can also enjoy a wide open view of Inwangsan Mountain and Bukhansan Mountain. The stained glass panels (designed to reflect the beauty of traditional Korean wrapping cloth) and the scenic lounges on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the building add to the overall charm.

Above all else, the museum was designed with consideration of the photos, which are very sensitive to humidity, light, and temperature.

Theatre Changdeokgung is located across from Changdeokgung Palace in the Gugak-ro Special Cultural Zone of Seoul. To recreate the traditional Korean entertainment setting and offer a better view of the stage, the theater is designed with floor seatings facing a platform stage. The theater offers a wide array of performances including samulnori (traditional Korean percussion quartet), traditional Korean music, and madanggeuk (a play infused with traditional music and performances). Yeongam Pottery Museum is dedicated to promoting the history of pottery in Korea, starting from the oldest known pottery coming from Gurim Village. The Hangwa Culture Museum is the first museum in Korea to have a theme centered on traditional Korean sweets. Its first floor exhibits the history of hangwa, tools used to make it, and the various types (Yakgwa, Yugwa, Yumilgwa, Jeongwa, Dasik, and Gangjeong), while the second floor offers seasonal hangwa, hangwa with tea, hangwa areas in Pocheon, information from hangwa experts, and tourism information on Pocheon. The education center runs colorful hands-on programs offering visitors an opportunity to make hangwa and also learn about traditional tea culture.

Cheongsong Folk Museum (청송민속박물관)

Cheongsong Folk Museum was opened in 1999 to promote the history, culture, and customs of the region. The three-story museum offers indoor & outdoor exhibition halls.

The indoor exhibition halls showcase educational materials related to farming and the customs of Cheongsong. Exhibitions - such as the Traditional Guest Room, Weaving Room, Items of Everyday Use, and Cheongsong Porcelain - offer glimpses of how people lived in the past. The outdoor exhibition space reproduces a traditional tavern, waterwheel, millstone operated by a horse or ox, monument to ward off misfortunes and protect prosperity, and natural stones used for worship, with which visitors can experience farm life in the past.
