Sancheong Museum of Herbal Medicine is the first herbal medicine museum in Korea. The museum is located at the foot of Wangsan Mountain, where the two prominent doctors of the mid-Joseon dynasty (1394-1910), Ryu Ui-tae and his apprentice Heo Jun practiced Korean herbal medicine. As a medicine-themed tourist park, it offers visitors a variety of health-related experiences. It is growing into a popular tourist attraction in the area with a wide range of recreational facilities including the Museum of Herbal Medicine, a medicinal herb garden, medicinal herb forest park, accommodations, herbal medicine facilities, shops, and more.

Opened in 2002, Chuncheon National Museum was established to identify and promote the original form and characteristics of the regional culture of Gangwon-do. It consists of the Permanent Exhibition Hall, Brand Hall, Special Exhibition Hall, and Outdoor Exhibition space. The museum displays the artifacts based on Gangwon-do’s history and culture, ranging from prehistoric times to modern times, and holds a special exhibition with diverse themes. The main building of the museum, built in harmony with nature, was selected as the “Best Architecture of the Year” by the Korean Institute of Architects in 2003. In particular, the main building is known for the center hall equipped with a circular glass ceiling. The Museum Cafe is situated at this center hall where visitors take a rest while enjoying the sunlight through the ceiling. The Immersive Digital Cafe has been in service on the 2nd floor of the center hall since the end of 2020. It shows a beautiful and vivid video of the Eight Sights of Gwandong, Five Hundred Arhats at Changnyeongsa Temple Site, and other sites on its 28 m-wide screen. Its Children’s Museum was also newly opened in 2021 under the theme “Children & Nature.”

The Museum of the ancient tombs in Daseong-dong displays artifacts unearthed from the four excavations of the Daeseongdong Tumuli. Highlighting often overlooked relics of the Geumgwan Gaya, the museum has three ground-floor exhibit halls and several underground auxiliary facilities. The main exhibits include a life-sized statue of a mounted soldier and a warrior statue, both recreated based on bones excavated from the tumuli of Yean-ri. The museum relies heavily on videos and dioramas to help visitors explore all the museum has to offer.

Jeongnimsaji Museum is located in Buyeo, the last capital of Baekje, where the Baekje culture flourished for the 123-year-long “Sabi Era.” The museum was established on the building site of Jeongnimsa Temple, which was a symbolic meeting place for royalty and a center for politics based on Buddhist morals.

The museum highlights the Buddhist culture of Baekje, said to be the origin of Buddhism in Korea and Japan, and Jeongnimsa Temple, known as the culmination of Baekje Buddhism. The museum also seeks to emphasize the advanced technology of Baekje and reenact the Sabi Era using an interactive approach that relies heavily on videos, panels, replicas, and hands-on programs. Main attractions at the museum include the Jeongnimsa Temple Site (Historic Site No. 301), the five-story stone pagoda of Jeongnimsa Temple (National Treasure No. 9) and the seated stone Buddha (Treasure No. 108).

Daejeon Convention Center (DCC) opened on April 21, 2008 in support of the local convention industry, one of Daejeon’s fastest going business during the time. The DCC is a state-of-the-art facility with a grand ballroom with seating for up to 2,000 people and an exhibition hall with a capacity of 2,600 people. Sosu Museum aims to consolidate and organize the nation’s traditional Confucian legacy and to establish the root of the national spirit through Sosuseowon, the first Confucian academy ever created in Korea. This museum is the only Confucian museum where visitors can experience the very valuable legacy of the Confucian culture and the rise and fall of Confucianism during the Joseon dynasty. Da Vinci Museum, located in Seogwipo-si on Jeju Island is the only museum that has the Da Vinci License in Korea. The museum offers visitors a chance to experience a wide variety of activities and hands-on programs. When you think of Leonardo Da Vinci, a few things that come to mind are the Mona Lisa and The Last Supper. However, one of the greatest masterpieces in his life is the Codex, a collection of his writings. Over 7,000 pages of the Codex, A.K.A. a notebook of secrets, survives today, and the museum displays over 200 works created and inspired based on the writings in the Codex. The museum houses information about the life and times of Leonardo Davinci, a superb scientist, anatomist, and inventor.
