Es la puerta del norte y, al mismo tiempo, puerta principal de la Fortaleza Hwaseong de Suwon. La palabra “Jangan” significa capital, en este caso haciendo referencia a ser otra capital del país. Esta puerta es la principal entrada de la fortaleza porque el rey llegaba de Hanyang (Seúl) a Suwon por esta puerta. Se destaca por ser más grande que la Puerta Sungnyemun (Namdaemun) de Seúl.
