Hasllacafe is a cafe located on Gangneung Coffee Street, next to Anmokhaebyeon Beach, Gangneung. Its Korean name combines Gangneung’s old name, “Haslla,” with “gabae,” a transliteration of coffee in Korea. Like its name, the cafe takes its aesthetic cues from the modern period of Korea. The café’s interior resemble that of a luxurious palace or a banquet hall in Europe. The view of Anmokhaebyeon Beach by the windows is a perfect backdrop for a defining picture of a trip to Gangneung. The cafe has two floors with rooftop seating. In contrast to the first floor’s dignified retro aesthetics, the latter has an ambience like that of holiday resorts, giving the impression of two separate cafes existing together in one space.
