According to a Korean myth, Gyerim Forest in Banwolseong Fortress, Gyeongju is the birthplace of Silla Kingdom founder Kim Alji (of Gyeongju Kim’s Clan) about two thousand years ago. Gyerimgung Hanok Pension is located 2 kilometers from Banwolseong Fortress and is named after the forest. Inside the gate are guestrooms named “Yoseok Room” with a large window in the detached building, “Sirim Room” and “Alji Room” in the main building, and “Asadal Room” and “Asanyeo Room” right next to it. The guesthouse has a shared kitchen and two “wondumak” (a Korean lookout hut on stilts usually in a melon field for guests to use). Barbecue facilities are also available upon reservation. The guesthouse offers a number of fun traditional programs including “Starting a Fire for Traditional Korean Iron Pot,” “Neolttwigi,” and “Yunnori.” Gyeongju Oreung in the vicinity of the guesthouse is a great place to take a walk. Nearby popular tourist destinations include Banwolseong Fortress, Cheomseongdae Observatory, and Daereungwon Tomb Complex. The guesthouse can be a great choice for those looking for a quiet place to stay overnight because it's situated in a residential area slightly off the main tourist zone.

La tombe du Général Kim Yusin (595-673) –Site Historique numéro 21-, est situé dans une zone pittoresque emplie de pins, sur la colline à l’est du mont Songha.

Connu comme étant le « Héros de la Dynastie Silla », le Général Kim Yusin fut l’arrière-petit-fils de Roi Gunhae, le dernier roi de la Dynastie Geumgwan Gaya, et le fils de Seo Hyeon, grand général de la Dynastie Silla. Kim Yusin fut membre des Hwarang (corps militaire de la jeunesse aristocratique) à l’agede 15 ans et commença à rêver des moyens d’unifier la péninsule des Trois Royaumes. Il gagna son appui politique en établissant une forte relation avec le noble Kim Chunchu et se fit un nom à travers sa bravoure sur les champs de bataille.

Lorsque Kim Chunchu accéda finalement au trone en tant que 29ème roi de la Dynastie Shilla (changeant son nom pour Roi Muyeol), Kim Yusin monta en grade et fut promu à l’extraordinairement haute position de Sangdaedeung (en 660, lors de la 7ème année du règne du Roi Muyeol). Il alla alors vaincre Baekje en coopération avec la Dynastie des Tang, plus tard conquérant Goguryeo (en 668). Cette dynastie s’attaqua à Silla après l’effondrement de Goguryeo mais fut défaite par l’armée de Kim Yusin alliée avec celles de Goguryeo et de Beakje. Avec la chute des Tang, Kim Yusin réalisa finalement son rêve d’unifier les trois royaumes et fut nommé au plus haut poste du gouvernement de Silla en l’honneur de son succès héroïque.

La tombe du Général Kim Yusin est large. En effet, elle mesure approximativement 30 mètres de diamètre. Les sculptures des 12 Dieux Orientaux du Zodiac (mi-hommes, mi-animaux) montent la garde autour de la tombe, brandissant leurs armes. Cette tombe, décorée minutieusement, est la seconde en grandeur concernant celles de la royauté, soulignant encore plus la contribution majeure du général à l’unification des trois royaumes.

Le chemin de cette tombe est aussi une chose qui ne doit être manquée. La rue y menant est nommée Heungmuro, et fut choisie comme étant l’une des 100 plus belles rues de Corée. Elle regorge de fleurs de cerisier au printemps et est célèbre pour être un merveilleux endroit où se promener ou bien conduire.

Wadamjung in Cheonwon Village, Gyeongju is a modern traditional Korean guesthouse built in May 2017, with both the features of a traditional Korean house and modern facilities such as air conditioner and bathroom. It has a total of nine guestrooms that can accommodate three to six people, and there is a kitchen that can be shared among the guests. A large group can book a stand-alone guestroom that can accommodate up to 12 people, inclusive of a kitchen. There are various traditional artifacts and items with which to play a traditional game in the large yard, such as Jegi (Korean shuttlecock game) and Tuho (Arrow-throwing). As a new hanok guesthouse, Gyeongju Hanok 1st is located at the entrance to Cheonwon Village, Gyeongju, Gyeongsangbuk-do. It has various modern amenities while preserving the features of a traditional Korean house. This hanok (traditional Korean house) is located at the center of Hanok Conservation Area, known as Hwangnidan-gil Street. To the north lies the old alley that connects to Cheomseongdae Observatory. The house has sarangchae building, byeolchae building, and main building, which is used as a gallery and café, surrounding the grass lawn in the center. All rooms are equipped with ondol (under-the-heating system) and a red clay finish, and each room has a bathroom with shower facilities.
Sarangchae is a two-story hanok building with a hipped-and-gable roof. Its first floor is occupied by a double room and a family room, which can support up to 4 people. Byeolchae is a single-floor hanok with a gable roof, containing two double rooms and a raised floor space. The main building’s gallery contains a hanok experience room, cafe, restaurant, and a traditional tea room. A Korean-style breakfast is offered in the cafe, and the management also offers experience programs like tea ceremony, traditional games like yunnori (board game), and traditional musical instruments like janggo (hourglass-shaped drums) and gayageum (twelve-stringed zither).

Gyeongju Suhojeong, located in front of the Gyeongju Daereungwon, is a Hanok guesthouse in a ㄱ shape. The traditional house was built in 2015 in accordance with traditional architecture using natural materials such as pine tree, red clay, straw, and others; thus, it is cool in summer and warm in winter. De grandes tombes anciennes des rois et de la noblesse de la dynastie Silla peuvent être visitées aux alentours de la ville de Gyeongju, notamment dans le parc Daereungwon. Vous trouverez dans ce lieu vingt-trois grandes tombes ainsi que les tombes anciennes les plus fameuses du pays, dont la tombe Cheonmachong et la tombe Hwangnamdaechong. Lors des fouilles pratiquées dans cette région durant les années 1970, la tombe Cheonmachong a été découverte avec une peinture d’une selle de cheval d’où son nom ('ma' signifie cheval en coréen). Cette peinture est la seule de la dynastie Silla à avoir été découverte. Vous pouvez également entrer et visiter l’intérieur de la tombe Cheonmachong. On compte 11.526 reliques et couronnes du roi à l’intérieur de la tombe, montrant le style de vie luxueux du roi. La tombe Hwangnamdaechong est l'autre grande attraction touristique du lieu, il s'agit là de la plus grande tombe ancienne. Elle abrite les corps du roi et de la reine et plus de 30 milliers de reliques et de bijoux en or. Il est à noter également à propos de la tombe Hwangnamdaechong que la tombe de la reine possède le plus d'accessoires de luxe. De là, les chercheurs ont conclu que même la reine pouvait avoir une position sociale très élevée même avant de se marier. Lors de votre visite, vous pourrez faire la découverte de la culture ancienne de la Corée, une culture de plus de 1 500 ans.
