Sono Moon Danyang is located in the central region of Korea where various famous landmarks like Eight Scenic Spots of Danyang, Chungjuho Lake, Sobaeksan Moutain, Gosudonggul Cave, and Guinsa Temple are situated. The resort is thought to be a base camp for resting, leisure and sports. The resort also features a 8-meter-high grand aquarium, housing 22,000 freshwater fish from 187 different species in Danuri Aquarium, is the largest freshwater fish ecological hall in Korea. Sobaeksan Mountain is renowned for its natural splendor and mystery, standing tall in the middle of the Korean peninsula, and offering several magnificent peaks, such as Hyeongjebong, Sinseonbong, Gungmangbong, Birobong, and Yeonhwabong. Its captivating seasonal beauty attracts visitors year round. The moutain's recreational forest was designated as the third national park in Chungcheongbuk-do in 1987, following Songnisan Mountain and Woraksan Mountain in 1970 and 1984 respectively. The open grass field on Birobong Peak (1,439 meters) resembles the Swiss Alps. On Yeonhwabong Peak (1,349 meters) is Sobaeksan Optical Astromony Observatory (SOAO), which laid the foundation for Korea's astronomy.

Ohak Sikdang (오학식당)

Ohak Sikdang is famous for its mukbap (chilled acorn jelly and rice soup), which is made using acorns and mushrooms. Mukbap (chilled acorn jelly and rice soup) is made by topping rice with long and thin slices of acorn jelly, sauce, vegetables, kimchi, and cold soup. Ohak Sikdang’s signature menus are mukbap jeongsik (chilled acorn jelly and rice soup set menu) and baekban (set menu). The side dishes here are quite good as well. Other menus include sundubu (soft bean curd jjigae), suyuk (boiled pork slices), and dubu jeongol (bean curd hot pot).

Chosun Minhwa Museum (조선민화박물관)

Chosun Minhwa Museum finished construction in 1998, in Waseok-ri, Gimsatga-myeon, Yeongwol-gun, Gangwon-do and opened on July 29, 2000. The museum contains about 3,000 folk paintings (minhwa) from the Joseon era and is comprised of a hands-on program hall where visitors can paint a minhwa on a wood plate and the chunhwa (obscene painting) exhibition which is eligible for only adults.

In addition to this museum, Gimsatgat Culture Hall and Indian Art Museum are also in Yeongwol.

Sainam Rock, located in Sainam-ri, Daegang-myeon, is one of eight scenic areas in Danyang, and is located in the southeast side of Danyang-gun, along with Sangseonam Rock, Jungseonam Rock, and Haseonam Rock of Seonam Valley.
The Sainam Rock is a rugged outcropping with an inspiring x_height of 70 meters, and the deep blue Namjocheon Stream passes in front of it, located in the southern part of Danyang-gun.

Most visitors to Danyang Eight Scenic Views tend to come to the rock as their first destination due to the good condition of the road. Also, Unseongugok Valley flows in front of Sainam Rock. The rock was picked as the most picturesque place among the Eight Scenic Views. On the cliff, there is a phrase carved by Utak’s own handwriting, as well as old pine trees on a rock floor that is reminiscent of the Haegeumgang River.

Sainam was named after the great scholar Yeokdong Utak during Goryeo Period. He had taken up a public service to assist a king in a position called sain (사인), and then he retired to his hometown of Danyang, starting out teaching young students. For this story, a governor of Danyang named the rock Sainam to commemorate his achievement during King Seongjong of the Joseon Dynasty.
