Even those who don’t usually enjoy plays have likely heard of Boeing Boeing. First performed in 2001, this play has been running for 23 years in Daehangno. Now well-known Hallyu actors, such as Kim Seon-ho from Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha and Ahn Jae-hong from Mask Girl, are alumni of Boeing Boeing.
What’s the secret behind its long-running success? As everyone knows, “Boeing” refers to the famous aircraft manufacturer, and all of the three fiancées of Seong-gi, the protagonist and a notorious playboy, happen to be flight attendants. He juggles his relationships by carefully scheduling his dates around their flight schedules, ensuring they never cross paths. But as the saying goes, “The longer the tail, the easier it is to step on.” Inevitably, all his fiancées end up gathering at the same house.
From here, the chase begins between the one trying to avoid suspicion and the ones growing suspicious Seong-gi’s friend, Sun-seong, and the housekeeper, Ok-hi, try to help him keep his secret, but it’s far from easy. The chaotic mishaps, frantic efforts, and the constant back-and-forth between moments of crisis and relief are the key comedic elements and the charm of the play.
